London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) recognises and celebrates the creative industry's distinct role in London. Now the UK’s fastest growing the sector, creative industries, including film, fashion, music and theatre, are critical to London’s success. According to the Greater London Authority (GLA), the creative economy is estimated to provide one in six jobs in London and generates around £47 billion for the London economy.
London is home to world renowned theatres, music venues and leading universities specialising in creative subjects. We are proud to represent the creative sector at LCCI, with hundreds of creative businesses part of the LCCI business community.
Fashion is one of the biggest and most lucrative industries in the world, but beyond the allure, it is a dynamic industry where creativity, innovation and business savvy intersect. The All Party Parliamentary Group on London as a Global City launched its report calling for action from all decision makers to support the capital’s arts, business and consumer events. This report states that London’s business and consumer events and arts are key to the success of the country.
In July 2023, LCCI launched a campaign to prevent arts funding cuts in the capital. There is a clear need for London to have a thriving, diverse and creative arts scene which is so critical for the capital’s economy and for bringing communities together. LCCI has demanded that the Arts Council stops cuts to arts funding across the capital through the implementation of strong funding plans by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, and a concerted effort to reestablish lost investment in the years that follow.
