LCCI comment on coronavirus grant roll-out by councils

Tuesday 21 April 2020

LCCI have today commented on the progress of delivery of two government coronavirus grants (Small Business Grants Fund and Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Business Grants Fund) via London's councils. Table here

Richard Burge, Chief Executive of London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said: “Right now the pace of funding delivery to businesses is imperative, whether from government, local government, or banks.

Cashflow is fast running out for many SMEs across London and these grants are important to trying to keep them afloat in the short term.

The business community welcomes that all councils across the capital are getting this money to the frontline of their local economies.

The London figures show that many boroughs are making good progress, but there is more work to do in others.

It’s important that businesses respond promptly to contact from their local council regarding these grants. And then equally important that councils issue these grants swiftly.”
