LCCI respond to Global Travel Taskforce report

Friday 9 April 2021

Responded to the Global Travel Taskforce report about safely reopening international travel, London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chief Executive, Richard Burge, said:

“It’s welcome that the Government has announced a system by which to return international travel and the economic benefit that it brings to London and the UK. Even if at this stage no date is firmly set.

"Given the requirement for testing at all traffic light stages, it’s imperative that tests are both affordable and accessible.

“It will undoubtedly be disappointing to businesses though that no specific plans appear to be in place to support resuming business travel. Companies have already lost out on significant contracts and projects with overseas clients, and it’s critical we restore the commerce, projects, contracts and client relationships that rely on air connectivity as soon as possible.”
