LCCI respond to lockdown easing and COVID-19 policy announcements
Monday 5 April 2021
London Chamber of Commerce and Industry has reacted to further easing of lockdown, testing and other measures announced by the Government to balance economic reopening whilst managing COVID-19 transmission.
Chief Executive, Richard Burge, said:
“Today’s news on regular testing, vaccine certification, and border policy give conceptual insight into how the economy may be able to reopen and stay open safely. But there clearly remains a long road ahead until we reach that point, and a lot of detail and system development yet to come.
“More immediately, many businesses will be pleased to be able to reopen on April 12. The full spectrum of retail and hospitality are a vital part of so many of London’s high streets, operating as an integrated whole. Whilst for now the hospitality setting will have to be outdoors, the capital looks forward to welcoming back visitors, demonstrating effective safety measures in place and reminding people what they’ve been missing.”
