PM has a mandate for EU reform to support London business - LCCI

Commenting on David Cameron's letter to Donald Tusk, the President of the European Council, on the UK's negotiations on remaining in the EU, Colin Stanbridge, chief executive of London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) said:

"It is encouraging to see that the Prime Minister has set out his stake on EU membership today. Our research last year showed that over two-thirds of London businesses believe that their interests are best served by remaining within a reformed EU, with specific powers returned to Westminster.

"Protecting the integrity of the Single Market is vital if businesses are to have a level playing field in the freedom of movement of goods and labour, and LCCI supports its even implementation to ensure a level playing field, particularly for SMEs.

"A reformed EU with a strong focus on trade, enterprise and competition will help to drive our strengthening economic recovery."
